Mathematics - Decimals!

Dear 4 Humility,

Post a comment to this blog entry stating:
(1) 2-3 sentences on what you know about decimals.
(2) Where can you find or make use of decimals in our real life situation
(State at least 5 examples)
Example: in money (to separate the dollars and cents - $ 1.20).

  3. Decimals are those numbers that are not able to divide to form whole numbers .Example , 2/2 equals to 1. Decimals are like 3/2 = 1 1/2 which is 1.5 .

Measurement of length, height and distance.
eg. My height is 1.24 meters.

  4. I know that in decimals there are tenths, hundredths and thousandths. Also, after the ones there will be a decimal to separate the ones with the tenths. And in fraction there will be chances that you have two numbers before a decimal.

    You can use it in:
Money, calculators, when you have a fraction and ask you to change to decimals, time.

  16. Ilearnt that I can convert fractions into decimals. When rounding off to the nearest whole number look at the number after the decimal point. For example,36.8. 8 is bigger than 5. so we need to roung up. If a number is smaller than five round down. So the answer is 36.8~37. when comparing decimals. look aat the number. comparing decimals,e.g.5.38 and 5.32. Which is smaller? the numbers 5and 3 are in both numbers. look at the number beside 3. 2is smaller than 8, so 5.32 is smaller. I can find decimals in the supermarkets, when seeing the price. I can find decimals in a ruler, a sign board which tells me how many kilometres I have to go more, weiging machine, in an item saying the net weight.
